DAY MAKER HEADLIGHTS.

Not sure if they are HD branded or not but significantly cheaper than what I paid through HD dealer
HEY HARLEY doesnt make this stuff so you can always search out the parts yourself Harley always charges more for the parts than you can buy them elsewhere so shop around

Not actually true.
HD made a deal with JWS and they alone have the rights to market the Daymakers.
The 8630s (old and new) are marketed by JWS.

A lot of talk about headlights. Waiting on the JWS old style headlights to show up. Yes $640,00 dollars is a hell of a lot for just headlights. I spend just as much time riding at night as I do riding during daylight. My ride to work is Not exactly what you would classify as city riding. Did some homework on all the lights offered for the Rocket X and it basically boiled down to you get what you paid for. Sure if you do not spend much time riding at night why mesh with it. I have had way to many close calls with the poor lighting on the Rocket X and would really be up @hit creek if I got into a accident. So the cost is justified. Some guys talk a lot of talk about how big and bad their bikes are but to me it is a means of transportation for daily use. For now my main objective is to make the bike safe. Next step will be to improve the suspension. ;););) Just found out the headlights will be here tomorrow,:):):)

One deer, two wild hogs (four leg kind) and one cow. All way to close before I saw them. I really need better lighting. :cautious::cautious::cautious:
HEY sounds like you need to stick to a dump truck with all those critters out there WE have deer all over I just smashed my truck hitting a deer at 65mph that wasnt any fun

I inquired because I am planning on bringing a light meter and tape to do some comparison testing at RAA XI.

yea I figured you would be doing that from some of the older headlight posts I've seen you beez the guru of light output ;) that's why I was quick to let you know I wasn't comparing distance, only brightness difference form the OEM's :D :D :D
I agree with Sonny. if I did as much nite riding as he does I would spend the bucks to get the real McCoys!
it will be really cool to see the results of what you find.

Thank you for the kind words; however, I would defer that GURU title to @barbagris, who knows way more than I regarding design, fabrication and function of LED headlights.
Understanding head light output in the real world with regards to what humans can actually discern and react is more my area. :D

Sonny, you being a frequent night rider DEMANDS the best lighting you can get, IMHO!
If you have ordered the JWS 8630, you have made a good decision. Were I a frequent night rider, I would also consider a pair of Clearwater Ericas.
