Custom Solo Riders Backrest

Operative word here guys is "custom". Stock BR won't work and Corbin is stupidly expensive. Surely some of you have fabed something up.

I am going through that process now.

Similar in design as the Utopia but using the triumph original adjustable backrest with no pillion seat.

Not much to show yet as I am still designing and fabing the support bracket/

I am doing just that. Drilled out the robots and mounted a Harley sissy bar bad to the upper holes perfectly. Will bend the bracket today just below the hold down T which should put the pad at my lower back. Then I plan to get some chrome accent pieces to dress the back of it up. Will add two tie down loops where the T holes are now or maybe find/make a rack to bolt there.

I will post pic's when I have it completed.

got the triumph touring seat with the front back rest. for me too upright and I felt crowded. Pulled it off and will sell it on ebay in time...
Dont suppose you still have your back rest of your touring seat to get ride of...?

Something like this? Stock Triumph backrest pad, touring solo seat, hard wood stem fit into seat pocket, u-bracket attached to back pad, bolt through u-bracket and wood stem that allows pivoting, rubber pads to restrict how far it pivots. Not too rigid, but supportive. Aftermarket pads are really cheap and would work too. A little work but customized to fit your back and riding position.

so that whole stem is made out of hard wood...?

Yes. Oak is very tough. Two 1" boards glued together. Find good boards with straight grain and use good exterior wood glue. Band saw to shape, sand and paint. The center is only about 3/8" thick so that it flexes a little. You can make it as high as desired and bring the pad mounting point forward or back to suite your back. The stem seats in the stock square seat pocket and four screws come up from under the seat into the stem. The seat pan flexes a little but once your weight is on it you can feel the stem flex.

I did my version here after coming to the same conclusion as others to use the pillion seat bracket as a base.
