I reckon they should make them compulsory for all cage drivers to be worn backwards with electric shock and aural awareness stimulation as they don't seem to see riders too well using their own eyes.

Very interesting technology. I'm a bit leery of being on the cutting edge when it comes to things like this. Kind of like that auto driving Tesla.

What would happen if the thing shorted out in a massive downpour? That probably wouldn't end well. And of course, the obvious, unless you have the kind of head that most helmets fit, I'd want a guarantee you could return it for a full refund in case it didn't fit.

But, that said, if you can afford it, I assume you can since you're considering it, and of course you have other helmets if it doesn't work out, sure, order one. I for one would love to hear a first hand report of how it works in the real world.

Another issue I would be concerned about is the focus of the design team is the electronic gadgetry not the inherent requirements for a protecting helmet. We all know that legally sold helmets are supposed to meet the minimum standards applicable to each jurisdiction but we also know some helmets are safer to have on if an accident occurs. That is why there are $50 and $500+ plus helmets.
Yes price is not a guarantee of greater safety but at least they have more funds to commit to research, design and quality control and are likely to be focusing on protection. A large part of the cost of this new helmet is the electronics which if faults occur will cost them squillions. Remember Modern Jet fighter heads up display helmets are well over a million $US each now and are individually fitted and custom made for each pilot.

At least that's what the government accountants tell us.

Remember the $600.00 hammers and toilet seats???

That is not too bad for a toilet seat. My cossetted arse requires ermine upholstery and gold fittings and silk toilet wipes as a minimum, while my unobtanium hammer and gem quality diamond tools and saws would not deign to be encapsulated with a mere $600 hammer in their ivory tool chest;):roll::roll:

Its always interesting posting stuff like this on public forums to hear peoples responses. The truth of the matter is that I don't think I am going to go for it after the research I did. Considering that I drive a new R3 Roadster with no interest in a windshield I don't want a sail helmet. Makes a big difference as many of you know. Until I know its quiet, actually has a standard rating (DOT, SNELL, ECEE, etc.), good aerodynamics and the electronics are not going to totally throw me while riding I think the Iron Man helmet here is a little too premature. Great ideas but probably more of a gadget than anything else. I will wait a little until some of this stuff becomes a little more mainstream. The one that I had a little more confidence in was BMW's but doesnt look like it will have the promises of the other one I shared. You would think that BMW would get it right if it was released though.
