I want to remove the front crash bars to powdercoat them but looking at them, the bolt that holds them on at the top also appears to be an engine mount? I have the manual but can't find anything about it in there.

My question is if I remove the long bolt do I need to support the motor and does anybody have a torque setting for this bolt? (have any of you removed the front crash bars?)

Thanks in advance :D

Yes, I've read that the engine has to be supported to install and uninstall engine bars. Smarter people can chime in on the bolt torque

As others have stated, you do have to support the engine when removing the bolt. However, I had no problem putting the bolt back through whatsover when I installed my dresser bars. I made sure that when I was trying to remove the bolt that it came out "easily"...no binding. I adjusted my lift a couple of times to find the sweet spot...no problems.

Just check this: Chrasbar The pictues tell the story. You have to do it the other way round.

The big screw needs 80Nm the two lower bolts need 49Nm this are the factory settings

To hold the engine in place is essential. Without lifting the engine you can not remove the long bolt. Move the engiine up and down to find the right position. Position is when you can move the bold by hand. Otherwhise you will ruin the screw thread.
