Cobra Problem ?

Last week I was gettin my annual inspection done when my tech noticed this split on my rear tyre. I get my tyres from him so he contacted Avon and today he called to say they have supplied a new tyre for me and they want this one back for inspection. I had this fitted last year and have done around 4000 miles on it.

Thank you. I just replaced my rear with an August 2015. I hope it does not have the same issue.

Wow, I just put on a July 2015 Cobra on the rear a couple weeks ago. Now I'm going to be paranoid for the next 6,000 miles!

Avons seem to be like Firestones, quite a few years back Avon had a not so much recall but quite a few of us got new 240s from them, never really trusted them since.

Been using Avon Cobras since they were available,Never had a problem before and I'll probably keep on using them but checking them more often. Definatly prefer them to Metzler. Got to say while I was waiting for Avon to reply I put another 500 miles on the tyre and never noticed the fault get worse. Good that Avon replaced it though, cause I.ve got a 1000mile run next week. Getting the new tyre fitted tomorrow. My tech is goin on holiday for a week but he's coming in to the shop at 8.00am to fit my tyre. That's what I call service.He'll be gettin a good tip. Got the wheel in the car and bike on the lift.

Same thing happened to mine a few months back ... pretty sure it was a 14 build fitted in 15 and I got around 10k kms out of it before it split exactly like the pics above
