We've got some beautiful weather down here, so the wife and I decided to go for a valentines day ride yesterday... We were on a little back road going about 60mph and there was a moving truck in front of us. I don't know where my mind went, but all of a sudden, I realized the truck had stopped. He never used his turn signal, and I swear I didn't see break lights until he was already stopped. By the time I realized I needed to stop, I thought it was too late. I applied breaks and wasn't slowing down fast enough, so I applied harder. I started skidding. Still not stopping fast enough, I applied harder. Still skidding. I just knew I was going to go sideways and go down, but the bike stayed perfectly upright the entire time. ****, still not stopping, going slow enough I figure I'll just damage the front fender... And we stop. Front fender is literally an inch from the rear bumper of the truck. I turned around at the next opportunity to go back and look at my skid. There was 10'-15' of skid mark. (I think it was longer, but my wife says I exagerate...) BTW, the sudden stop woke my wife up, she says she had fallen asleep.

Well done keeping it up like that. Glad it went well. That will get the heart beating a little.

I went out and had a little slip sliding on the gravel on the roads here in Colorado, but managed to stay wheels down and have a good time.

I trust that you were carrying a extra pair of skivies?

Glad to hear that you both are okay.

Goes to show that you always have to be 'in the moment' or the moment may be your last.

Glad you are fine and the bike is okay. The cagers still aren't used to bikes being out this spring. Be careful y'all.
