*CLICK* Rocket III shut off and coasted to a stop ???

Lights are still on, it's still turning over, all the fuses appear to be good and I can hear the fuel pump coming on when the switch is turned on.

Any clue? It popped/backfired one single time when I tried to recrank it and nothing since then.

BTW, I did try to search for this and might have missed it but didn't see anything where the bike shut off and wouldn't recrank...

Check for loose plugs & wires. Year and mileage? Bad gas? Dirty oil, filters? Could be lots of things, but your getting it to crank so your close!

It sounds electrical to me. Check the battery connections - not only at the battery but also the other ends of the cables. It could also be your ignition switch, they have been know to have problems. The switch does not just connect two wires, which would be the simple way. It connects two power source cables to five or six other wires. Therefore one of those connections could be corrupt, causing the engine to fail, but still be good in other areas such as the fuel pump.

It's likely your ignition switch has lost a connection that feeds the ECU circuit. I'll check the manual to see what wire may have bid your switch adue.

Looking at the diagram you have a couple interesting possibliities. Your side stand switch and Engine Management Relay are normally open contacts (blocks 3 and 5). If your engine management relay fizzled out your bike engine signs off.

Someone said I'm getting close - I wish. Actually I haven't found any problem yet.

Sidestand switch and neutral switch both working if I put the kickstand down or put it in gear it won't turn over. Put it back in -N- or put the kickstand back down and it spins over just fine.

Plenty of juice, battery terminals tight so not an issue there and battery is making great juice/power - as mentioned it was running perfect and just went CLICK like a fuse went or something of that nature.

My next step and last step to my knowledge is checking the relays today to see if any of them are bad. I know there are some under the left side panel (or was told there are) where are others located guys?

Spark plug wires fine, fresh oil and filter, gas good...

Keep the suggestions coming. The nearest dealer is about 2hrs away!

There are 3 things required for the BANG sound.

AIR
FUEL
SPARK

Start with the easy bit - are your coils actually discharging? Whip a lead off - stick and old plug in - Rest plug against engine METAL and crank it over. Spark?

My guess is that ECU is not - Not controlling the Engine.
Also look at the Crank Position /Timing (whatever) sensor. If it does not get the signal to spark - it wont. Nor will it signal the injectors to open - double jeopardy.

THE GOLDEN RULE OF ELECTRICAL FAILURE - UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE - ALL FAULTS ARE EARTH FAULTS.

Start tracing circuits.

Had a problem bit like this last year.

The bike would pop and fart and then die, turn over ok but not start. Had the ignition switch changed, ok for a short while then back to the same. To cut a long story short. It turned out to be a connector under the R/H side panel where the ECU is. It was the wire that came off the + post on the batt (Black thin) and too a connector and then out the other side of the connector (Brown) to the regulator/rectifier. It had badly corroded and was intermittently sparking out. I just too the connector out and joined the wires together. Worth a check

1. Clocks sweep ok when ignition 1st switched on?
2. Starter cranks fine?
3. any attempt to fire up?
4. How many miles has bike done?
5. checked plugs?

6. When you crank her over does she spin easier then normal?
Any mods like triple filters?
