I have a 2010 Rocket III Roadster. Oil is leaking from the cam cover gasket. No biggie I thought, just replace the gasket and I'm done. However, I have been unable to find a replacement gasket without buying the complete head gasket kit which runs at around $300. Can anyone help? I tried BikeBandit.com to no avail. Are there any other online resources anyone can recommend?

Thanks

Nigel

They're available separately, go to Andy at North County (NOT "country") Yamaha/Triumph and tell him what you want.

But generally speaking, they don't leak and can be reused many times. If the leak is at the front, it will be to do with the two half-moon portions of the gasket, which need silicone as well on assembly.

If it's not at the front, nipping up the cover bolts would probably do the trick???

Permatex .. if using silicone ( personally i wouldn't) be careful how much you apply... any that oozes out can cause problems.

OK first whether you buy the gasket or not save this link to you favorites.

Triumph from NCY-Motorsports
Ask for Andy in Triumph Parts he is the man. If you can give him the VIN number and shoot him a picture via camera you will get what you need at a reduced price.
Secondly Permatex and a light amount most likely the gasket moved where one of the bolts went thru. You can chase it down before you pull it off just look real good as there is a ledge/lip the goes over the complete head all the way around. Mine was back by the bolt right next to throttle body number 3. I have had it off more times than I can remember and only replace them when they get stiff. The key to putting one on is slowly and cautiously. Too often we hurry on what seems to be easy and muck it up.

update NCY is no longer triumph

I bought mine on ebay for $30.00. Just searched Triumph T1260079 to get the genuine Triumph part. Not finding one now, though. Must be sporadic.

I have what appears to be the same issue; oil along the motorhead, along the cylinder head line and down the front of the bike, right side. Is this an issue re longevity of the motor? Is this a common issue? I will be getting it fixed under warranty but am concerned if I should keep the bike or trade. Thx.

There has been a few Roadsters that the gasket has blew out around the cam cover. You might be able to see it bulging out if it has blown. Look around the perimeter of the cover... you'll see the gasket. I wouldn't get rid of the bike if it is just the cam cover gasket.
