running that loose may have done damage to the splines be sure to check them at next tire replace.

Boys and Girls you have to check every nut and bolt that is accessible often, I go over all my bikes at least once every two months and check all that I can, what has been shown here should really wake you up to do some preventative maintenance.
Glad it had a happy ending it could have been a lot worse.
