looking at getting a set of communicators for the gf and myself. so was wondering what others are using and why. and what type of issues you have had with other units if you have used them.

my wife and I have had real good service out of the Cardo Scala Rider Q2 Multiset. You can pick them up on fleabay for fairly reasonable prices since Cardo has come out with a new model, the G4.

Note that the Q2 only supports mono-bluetooth so it may have issues pairing with a bluetooth gps like the Garmin Zumo but it works well with my blackberry.

We can get quite a ways apart (1/4 mile or more) before any static occurs.

If money is not a big concern, spring for the new G4 model.

have you used your blackberry as a gps yet? if so, does it transmit instructions thru the bluetooth conection?
also, do you wear full face or half helmet?
being in texas and originaly from michigan, I get to hot in the full face, so end up wearing my half helmet more often than not.

You are going to have a challenge finding a communications set that will work with a half helmet. I use mine in a modular and my wife has a 3/4 helmet.

I know there are some other units that may work with a half helmet but others will need to chime in to assist.

Is the com part bluetooth or RF? I thought bluetooth was only good for 30 feet or so, thats some serious distance at 1/4 mile. Either way sounds like a decent product, how well does it mount in the helmet?

The com is RF. The bluetooth is for gps, phone. It also has a FM radio built in but I haven't tried it much. Some of the latter Q2s also have a plug for an iPod.

The system works well.

Thats pretty slick, that way you can talk to other bikes and the unit has a purpose even when it's just you riding. You said the bluetooth isn't stereo, that could be a bummer for the music. I guess if it were perfect it would cost more right? ;)
