Best Rocket 3 handle bar grips

I have "quite a few kilometers more" than 30K with Kuryakyn grips. Never had a problem previously, but the last two issues I had with the Kuris on my R3 kind of killed the issue for me.

I went ahead and re-installed the stock Triumph grips while I look for new ones.

Do a Google search for "Kuryakyn ISO grips fail." There's a long thread on the issue on the triumphrat.net site. And other places. It happens. Not just with Triumphs, but with HDs and other bikes. Just a weak tab on some of their ISO grips.

You've had problems with the throttle cable tabs on Kuryakin Iso grips?

:eek:Well there ya go I had only read about the Triumph ones doing it so now We have to watch the ISO ones as well!.... Geeez what ever happened to Quality Control!!!!!

Here's what I've got for mine.

I'll probably dip them in rubber a couple of times
so they don't get so blasted hot in the summertime.
Skip I love the look of themWhere did you get them and how much seeing as I have to replace my left one anyway (after the acco the other day) and now we find out the ISO's are weak as well I will be looking for something else you could always slip on some of those foam ones over the top if nessasary

Thanks. I read that RAT thread; it's hardly conclusive. Certainly nothing to support your assertion that there's a weak tab on some ISO grips. A couple may have failed but who can say why. Personally I'm totally confident I installed mine correctly and feel that 30,000kms (actually closer to 40,000) is a decent test period. One of the best mods I've put on the bike. If they were to fail now or some time in the future I doubt I'd be too concerned. Pissed off maybe, but I reckon I'd replace them with another set

Sometimes things fail. If anyone expects nothing ever to go wrong perhaps they should go and test ride a rock .....;)

I've run the Kuryakyn ISO-Flame grips for years. I bought them for a Honda VT1100 which has the same throttle as ours. I too found the stock grips way too hard for long trips. These are a bit bigger around, offer a bit softer feel and don't feel like sock full of golf balls like the regular ISOs.. Mostly, I bought them to go with my paint job though.. :)

Got em off e-bay Hans.
Cheap too, I think they had another set.
Don't have to worry about a little cheap plastic part snapping off
and making them worthless.
Billet aluminum.
Want me to send ya mine?
I can score me another set.
Be easy to do beings I gotta send that other package in the morning anyway....
Let me see if the e-bay link is still hooked up.
yep, still there.

hey skip, more info on the holy grips please.

hi skip, hey i'm thinking of those aluminum holy grips. a motocross type of foam sleeve would make them a great grip for my rocket i'm thinking. i can't seem to find any degree of comfort with the kury iso grips and they still feel like a bicycle innertube with a few golf balls inside of it. i'm tall like you skip, and seem to have fingers that are extremely long which is why if nothing else, some plumbing pipe rubber insulation might give me some support over even the stock R-III grips. ahh, the search for comfortable grips that don't piss me off continues.
