There are 2 sections of the frame that come down with the 2 holes in it, this is where the dowels of the centre stand type stands fix to. Put a section of ply on the back pad of the lift and position it under this section. The vast majority of the weight is taken on this pad, very little on the front.
This section of the frame was designed to take the weight of the bike.
I dunno if I'd lift from the engine. Probably be fine but that weight on the alloy cases just makes me uncomfortable. There's bolts under the engine as well. If you were to get one of those on the lifting pads then a heap of weight could end up going onto the bolt head, could possibly crack the oil pan.
Or maybe I'm just being paranoid and worrying about nothing!!
