Becker-Technik Rocket 3 stand

There are 2 sections of the frame that come down with the 2 holes in it, this is where the dowels of the centre stand type stands fix to. Put a section of ply on the back pad of the lift and position it under this section. The vast majority of the weight is taken on this pad, very little on the front.

This section of the frame was designed to take the weight of the bike.

I dunno if I'd lift from the engine. Probably be fine but that weight on the alloy cases just makes me uncomfortable. There's bolts under the engine as well. If you were to get one of those on the lifting pads then a heap of weight could end up going onto the bolt head, could possibly crack the oil pan.

Or maybe I'm just being paranoid and worrying about nothing!!

No, you are not paranoid, I agree. I have spent at least a month faffing over how best to lift it. I think that with most of weight on those lugs it should be fine.
I considered the 'Strong Arm' but because weight would be centred on one single bar on engine block decided against it.

Yeah, the adapter plate from Kern-Stabi hooks into those holes. It's total overkill, you can kludge something up with wood or even you own metal blocks, but boy howdy do I feel good about this plate, it doesn't get more foolproof. Once it's on there with pins through the holes, it's not coming off by accident, and there is no way the plate itself will slip off the lift either. The plate even has a lowered ridge at the front and rear so even if you somehow were to manage to try to push the bike forward off the plate it will be impossible. For those of us with mild paranoia and fear the DIY route the Kern-Stabi plate is the best.

But this board is a great resource, do some searches on "lift" and other likely words, you'll see how others have done it. Those two lifting holes in the frame are the place to lift, and forward from there. Most of the weight should go on those.

Do you have a link to the Kern-Stabi plate ?

Sure, (click the british flag for more easily digested language). It's pricey, but it's something like quarter inch steel. Total overkill. It doesn't look exactly like the pictures, they've made some changes to the pins but not for the worse, just simplified. And it came bright red so it should be harder to forget to remove it.

Lots of people have DIY:ed mounts on their lifts to achieve the same thing if you need your bike up in the air for servicing. The easiest way I've seen are loose angled blocks of metal with pegs that fit the holes in the frame, and those then rest on the rear section of the bike lift.

See http://www.r3owners.net/threads/lift.15570/#post-196003 for an example of what I'm talking about, I very nearly went with that, easy, though slightly higher risk of operator error... ie screwing up. :)

This plate is by no means necessary, it's just the luxury no-work-or-thinking-required one.

Got my Becker-Technik stand this week. Had to travel to Europe to purchase it and take it back to California.

I know this is an old thread but where can I purchase this? I'm deploying soon and would like to have it for long term storage and make it be able for my wife to move it around in the garage.
