Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

One of the big misses from the list was the Suzuki RE5. - the tube look especially side on of instruments and matching blinkers are gagging. The instrument screen cover used to roll up from memory

A Canuck uni mate picked one up in 1979 with under a 1000km for $50 after the battery went flat. The owner had obviously never ridden it much for some reason maybe the looks!
500cc wankel rotary that the Aussie racing authority CAMS rated against 750cc plus. Heavy and a shocker for fuel economy. I went pillion to Sydney from Canberra once for an ice hockey match, 350km there and back again and have never been a pillion since.

Strangely looks a bit Rocketish with the big donk and radiator LOL

Could not find any of the 10 ugly bikes, they all look perfectly normal to me:)
I agree,at the time some of those bikes came out, they were great,or even ahead of their time,I always thought the magna at its time was a great looking bike. However, the author is only stating his/her opinion, means jack squat, had they polled 10000 riders of their opinion of fugly bikes, might have a baseline for the story.......kinda like listening to Art:sick:

JMHO -
Anyone that buys a motor based primarily upon its looks has
TOTALLY MISSED THE POINT!!! ;) :D

You nailed it brother. I tallied up the number of bikes I had ridden when I bought Brahma. It took me a full day to remember all of them. But once I did get it down, the research online and looking at various pictures brought back many a good feeling for each of them.
The ugliest (by some people's standard) would have been my '78 CR500; which by coincidence I had the longest of any machine somewhere around 12 years I think. The tank had a hole on top, (JB Weld does work and new duct tape over it only last for a day or so). Paint was faded, rust ruled all metal parts (except inside the tank). A third of the knobbies were missing on the tires, the shocks were shot and it was hard as he11 to start. But once it was warmed up, pure beauty on the whoops!
I wonder how many people I have helped to shop for their first bike. My initial question for them to answer is what are they intending to use it for. Then I steer them towards a bike that fits their body. Never giving much concern with the subjective beauty of the machine, function first.

I spent a day on a V65 Magna while my buddy rode my 85 ZX900 Ninja.
The Honda was a total POS in the corners with the swing-arm and frame flexing like a bucking bronco!
The next weekend my buddy bought himself an 85 ZX900 Ninja the opposite color scheme as mine.
We sure had a lot of awesome trips on those motors!
