So, i just installed my new LED headlights. been charging battery off and on this winter in a heated garage, worked fine when installed these lights. went to "take it out" after 2 weeks of sitting, then turn the switch, nothing. So, check the battery,Yuasa YTX20L-BS 6.2 volts,go to charge it (1.3 voltage charger), for like 2 hrs,7.3 volts.take the charger off, within 1minute 6.2 volts and dropping fast. Auto zone replacement (Duralast with 310CCa ) and I'm off to the races. So, my question to all of you: Is this normal for a battery in these to go that fast? I have no Idea if this is the original Battery in the bike (it could be). I looked at other batteries for this and just wanted something in it so I can ride!! I will probably get a better one later this year if this one does the same. No draw downs as I can tell right yet though. Thoughts this?

When batterys die, it can be fast. Sounds like one cell is shorted and you have to get a new

Mine go titz-up about every other year!
SUX!

I replace my batteries in all my bikes at least every four years why wait for them to bite you, now our very own Rocket Scientist(Fred) is in the Guinness Book of world Records for keeping a motorbike battery the longest:D in fact I have personally seen Fred on a few occasions giving his bike battery mouth to mouth just to get it energized.

Batteries are fickle things. Helps to keep them charged over longer periods of time not being used. My Bonnie battery lasted into it's 10th season, just kept it charged in the winter. My truck battery goes only 4-5 years, no matter what. Just learn the early warning signs, ususally starts to turn over more slowly. I usually give it one more shot by cleaning the terminals, if that doesn't do it, bring in another, no sense in being frustrated by it not starting. Vibration is a killer of all batteries, I presume it damages the plates and shorts. Keeping the connecting wires and terminals clean and tight, avoids odd electrical probems.

When I tried to start my bike a couple of weeks ago the battery was stone dead even though I had it on a trickle charger most of the winter. I hooked up the charger for a few hours and then switched it on and got a strange buzzing sound then nothing. I left the charger on for about 24 hours then tried again......nothing. Tried again the next day ( did I mention I am a stubborn bastard?) and nothing so I ordered a new battery. It arrived Friday so I charged it up and before I installed it I gave the bike one last shot. Fired right up! tried it several times and it spins like crazy and fires up every time. Been good for several days now.....WTF! No idea if it will last. My original battery lasted almost 12 years and this will be the 2nd battery since. I now have a brand new battery sitting on the bench :banghead::banghead::banghead:
