I'm looking at getting a Battery Minder but I see the prices range from $30+ to $130+. I always go for quality if it proves to be worth the extra $$$. My stock battery ('05) died a hand full of months ago so I was blessed with "battery longevity". I replaced it with the gel type for $72 (not a bad price from what I hear). I always used a 10 amp charger, hooked up to the stock battery a few times during each winter (that could be up to 5 months here in the Midwest), which didn't do too bad I guess, although I hear that may be too much "umph" to tend a battery with.

Any input on the battery minder? Does quality come with cost or might I get the cheap version & see what becomes of the new battery after time?

See ya.

I have the Gel battery and a $35 Deltran battery tender. 2+ years with VERY cold snaps here at 7500 foot elevation NE of Colorado Springs. No issues to date. Bikes are on them from late November into March. I do unplug them randomly - seeing the green light everytime I check.

I have the battery tender jr. You can get them online for under $30. My battery is a few months short of 4 years old. And it's doing fine. I switch the battery tender between my john deere rider and the Rocket. JD battery is 6 years old.

I've had a Battery Tender Plus for 4 or 5 years. The current Yuasa is 2-3 years old. I keep it hooked up when garaged. It started this morning - ~30 degrees.

Well "La Te Da" Scot!

Hope to see you the next ride so I can actually play that tune for ya in person.

Hey Skip, I'll have to wait til this one konks out on me before I get the Odyssey, unless you'll send one this way.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like the less expensive one would not be a bad idea to start with.

See ya.

Mine didn't start yesterday but it wasn't the batteries fault. It hasn't been started in over two weeks and it took a couple minutes of cranking to fire up. That was just about 30 seconds too much for the Odyssey and had to use the 50 amp start charger.
I'll just have to remember to start her once a week to keep the fuel pressures up.
