rocket touring
Hi all
Just thought I would let you know of a slight drama I had whilst touring around the coast of Cornwall over the bank holiday weekend here in the uk. After being out all day at lands end and other places , me,the wife, and my mate and his wife (who also have a rocket ), stopped in Perranporth for an evening meal . When we came out of the restaurant it was dark so we set off back to our campers for a drink. Riding my bike up a dark country lane at about 10 pm and taking it steady a badger ran out of a hedgerow and straight under the bike, to say I sh×× myself would be an understatment, but because the bikes size and weight the bike remained steady and bowled the badger into the kerb. As I stopped the badger dusted itself off and then carried on across the road. At the time I was doing 30 to 40 mph and my mate who was behind on his bike saw the whole episode. The next morning I checked the bike and all was ok appart from a little fur on the footpeg, now I reckon if I was riding a smaller bike it would have been a different story anyway I just thougt I would share this with you all , ride safe !

Badgers are tough, tough critters.
Glad to hear all's well with you and your wife... and your bike. :)

A long time ago in Montana during an early fall snowstorm, I had a similar experience. I hit a bear with a 3/4 ton chevy 4wd truck going around 40 mph. It was almost dark, but I could see the bear get up, look right at me and walk off into the woods. He looked more pissed than hurt.

I hit an armadillo in houston with an old chevy 4door tub and i had to get the lug wrench to pry it out of the wheel well. You know, I think I'm gonna start a line of armadillo gear. Gut an armadillo strap it to my head & go for a ride, last time I was down there they were anything but an endangered species.

Love the Triumph commercial :D

Last year on our Sea to Shinig Sea adventure our only night time run was almost a mess. Going about 65 at 10 pm due to running late getting out of DC, (I had warned the guys we were going to have nasty traffic coming out of DC as far as Manassas but who listens to me:D)

Anyhow finally out in the country and I just barely pick out a possum in my lights, just barely missing him. Thought for sure someone behind was going to get it but they saw me swerve and knew something was wrong. Not a fan of riding at night, especially in deer country where I live.

out on the Nullabar Plains where the big Red Roos live I have seen a car written off after hitting one, and it is not uncommon to hit a big grey (more common around coastal regions) to hit a car with a glancing blow and cause quite some damage get up and hop away, hit a roo on a bike and you go and buy a lottery ticket if you don't go down the road big time. Then we have the Wombats hit one of them and they will do some serious damage they have been known to take out a front wheel of a semi trailer truck, they are like hitting a big rock,... solid as one too

Some years back, one of our neighbours hit a male Wild Boar head on. The engine was pushed back and under the car - leaving a neat boar shaped hole from the grill to engine bulkhead. The Boar walked off into the scrub - though was found a couple of hundred metres away having bled to death from bodywork slashes about 3" deep.
