after 15,000 miles. Approximately 3/16 inch rubber left before it hits the cords. No, I have never abused this tire, even though the temptation has been great at times!
Harder compound than the Metzeler, nice for longevity, not so nice for stickiness. I have Avon's now and will probably go with them again even though I have had a few scary moments rain riding with them.....just have to be very careful.
I wonder if the 180 Avon Cobra is a different compound. On my R3T I am getting much better mileage from the Metzler than I did from the Avon. I found the Avon handled better, which would indicate a softer tire, thus the reduced mileage.
I'll probably go back to the Avon when I replace the Metzler at around 12-13,000. I'll give up a couple thousand miles to get better handling.
That looks like the starting tread depth on a Metz. Not bad on the mileage, I'm soon to need replacement on my second Metzler at 16,000 miles. You can bet it won't be another Metzler. Avon or dark-side. ... still trying to make that final decision.

15,000 miles on a V rated tire is pretty **** good i think, i hope I can get that. I just took Darkside off rear and put new Avons on front and rear. Trying something different, Darkside was good, over 20,000 miles on it and still had probably 5-7,000 left on it. Metzlers were not so good, low miles and rear slipping.
