Anyone else using Rotella 5w 40?

As Wayne as pointed out. So I would double check and see what the difference is between the Rotella you buy off the shelf today versus the Rotella of 2006.

..yes, I switched out the Triumph 10w40 or whatever they used when they did my service, to Shell Rotella 5w40 fully synthetic because of hard starting when it was cold...

I went with a 20W50 Amsoil here in the deep south. For the summer heat I felt it was best but I have to say the winter chill makes for a hard start. I wear batteries out rather quickly on a day to day basis.

More importantly, I see you're from that town in Maryland that I once visited. I was a little shaver, or rather years before that, when Uncle Lester Radke provided the chicken necks from his A&P store that netted a 35 gallon barrel full of blue crabs. I never hated crabs so much as when it came to shelling and picking them, mostly myself. It was slave labor for not much to eat. As I remember But it sure was fun catching them

These posts are a few years old. Picking up a gallon jug of T6 Rotella 5 W 40 oil, I now read on the back label that it is JASO MA-2 approved. I see no problem at all using this oil in either my 2007 Bonneville T100 or my 2008 Rocket III Classic, once I finish up using what Mobil 4T 10 W 40 that I have on my shelf in the garage. I live in Illinois but would have no problem in using this product in warmer states such as Texas.

I tried it and at first thought it was great. My engine sounded rattley after a few thousand kms and I switched back to Amsoil. I think it is ok but it seems to break down too quickly in a Rocket.

I never change my oil!! When it needs to be topped off I put in used motor oil after I run it thru a coffee filter. Cheapest way to go!

Been using Rotella 5w 40 for the last 40k miles and like it just fine.

I use recycled cooking oil that I get directly from Neil Young. It may not be the best engine lubricant, but I love that french fried fragrance emanating from exhaust.
