and so it begins.....

Congrats and great job! That's the 1st time I've seen holes drilled into the bearclaw and it looks pretty snazzy.

As I said before - I'll be doing the Jardines and K & N's in the coming days. Any tips or words of wisdom on either? Especially the Jardines? Thanks!

John,

Pick up a tube high temp, silcone with copper gasket material. You will need it where the pipes slide together.

The actual install was not bad at all. Fit everything together, front to back then tighten things up.

One thing I did due was put a washer under each of the header nuts because I was not sure if things were getting tight or just bottoming out on the inside of the nuts..

I also put loc-tite on the screws that hold the heat guards on.

The hose clamps that you will use to hold on some of the heat shields. Wait and thread the clamps thru the shields until your at the bike so that you make sure they are in the best direction to be able to hide the clamp screws...
Other then that ,,,, pretty simple .... Oh Make sure you do not point the t clamp screw at the back tire.... I know it most likely would never make it to the tire,,, but then again....

Have fun and let us know how you make out....
Curt

Hans thanks for everything!

The PCV/AT is suppose to be delivered in the morning... We expect to be in the low 50's on Wednesday so I hopefully will have things figured out with the PCV by then.... :D

Are you getting the proper torque with a single washer and the stock acorn nuts? I had to use at least three washers to get them to torque down. I finally replaced the acorn nuts with standard nuts so I could get rid of the extra washers.

Also, make sure and check your torque settings after every ride (when fully cooled). Mine took quite a few adjustments before they held the proper torque setting.

To be honest... I am not sure I am not bottoming out, I am going to go get some stainless washers in the morning.
I have not torqued anything yet, but plan on checking a great deal as I found a couple of missing bolts that hold the vacuum lines, a coil, and others just loose.

Thank you...

That does sound good. Very cool Curt. Now, if you can be bothered, do a walk around the bike so we can see what it looks like with its pants back on ie. the whole system and drilled claw. When I find that Black and White whiskey I'll toast your bike too!
