Hi all,

I've read so much about removing the air box 'snorkel' but for the life of me, I don't know where it is. I've searched the net but nothing. Can someone point me in the right direction please.

Does it make a difference to air flow? Is it really worth removing?

Thanks.

Maybe mine was removed in the customization process, as I have nothing under my seat. My seat was specially made for my bike.

Is it just a tube or something connected to the seat? or below the seat?

Its screwed to the bottom of the stock seat. It draws air from above the battery area through a tube. Main purpose is likely noise reduction.

Thanks for clearing thatup for me, I was a bit baffled. I obviously don't have this connected to my bike. So, that's good I suppose.

Still considering triples tho, but bike runs great with stock flow and Wayne's triples tune, so not really sure what benefit I'll get. Dirtier oil maybe.

Thanks.

Rocky,
No, No, No not dirtier oil. In fact my guess is the total surface area of three K&Ns is likely more than that of the stock air filter. To me, this would equal more clean air, not dirtier oil.

If you are running a tune for triple K&Ns with an aftermarket exhaust and still running a stock air filter, I would think you are running too rich.

I would get the trips from Daryl Davis and a tune from Hanso. Do this and I bet your ass lights up on fire with excitement.

Take the stock air intake system off your bike and install the triple K&Ns(five filters in fact) it opens up your engine for easy access to everything when you lift the gas tank plus you have some extra storage where the stock filter goes.

Just back on the snorkel thingy, I removed mine before I had triples and it may have made a small difference - hard to tell really. I doubt it's there just for noise reduction though (if at all). It draws air in from behind the seat which would have to be cooler than air coming from under the tank and above the engine. Perhaps a good thing in cold weather but I doubt it would be a smart move when it's hot. Better to go with triples and get those suckers out in the clean air.

Just ditch the Std restrictive airbox system and go all the way like I have and put the freest flowing RX-4040 K&N air cleaners then you will really know you have a powerfull bike, I even have a Tune in Mind that will have you ripping the thread of your tyres :D
