Maybe it has become an obsession but I have taken the cutting wheel to the rear fender on my last three Triumph's. (On my TBS I went all the way and did both front and rear.)
BEFORE

AFTER

The R3 is next and I picked up a recycled rear fender and inter bracket from Pinwall Cycles. I always keep the stock setup in case I ever want to go back. I got the paint from Color Rite and for all of you Cardinal Red owners here is some interesting info. The color is produced by Schoch, a small Norwegian company that doesn't import to the US. The Color Rite match is close and was probably mixed via a paint scan. They do ship quick and their prices are reasonable.

I am still thinking on how high to cut, but I really want the public to know why she is known as the Fat Bottom Girl. My motto has always been, the more big rear shown the better. (Although after my last beach vacation I do understand there are exceptions to rule.) I am still thinking on what taillight to use and leaning toward an oval lucas style. If anyone is interested I will post an update or two as the surgery processes.

Here is the link to Pinwall Cycles. They have a great large selection of recycled R3 parts on Ebay and in their store.

along with cutting the rear fender one can also change the turn signal flashers as well , as I did that picture can be seen on a earlier post somewhere

How high do I go??????

Looks about right........

No turning back now. With all of that extra weight gone, I estimate a 10 to 12 HP gain......

britman it looks like three inches higher than mine as I cut through the middle of the light on mine in order to keep the rack from getting muddy looks good though!!

Britman, if only we were neighbours, I'd be busting your chops to cut up my bike!

Man I wish I could find someone skilled enough and have the ability and time to work on my bike.

Gorgeous work brother

Well I am not that far away from you Ponters if you are serious. I did mine too both front and rear, even kept my original tail light. Took 80mm from the rear and 35 and 40mm from the front respectively. Measured mine three times and cut once, sand back to bare metal and deliver to painter. Always buy a second pair of guards and keep your originals safe somewhere so you can put back to stock later unless you realy dont want to keep any stock parts that is.
Nice job on the TBS Britman.

taillight suggestion....

a couple of years ago i saw a victory, i believe it was a hammer, and it had LED taillights. they were under the rear edge of the rear fender, and glowed red. they also worked as the turn signals. you might want to see what is offered through arlen ness, because they have all the trick stuff that fits the victory's. it did look sharp, and didn't stick out like a sore thumb like some taillights can. just a thought.
