It all came about when I left the throttle set and downshifted from 5 to 4. Maybe a difference of 200-400 rpm. Me thinks.....why not just make 5th gear a bit higher for the better gas mileage and lower the rpm to around 2000-2400 in 5th.

There's probably a very good reason as to why they can't make 5th gear a little higher. There's probably an even better reason (besides cost) that you couldn't put in a different gear box with 6 forward gears.

The problem is I sure don't have the answers and thought somebody in the greater expanse could clue me in.
