Yeah, there's a point where conspicuous becomes dangerously blinding. And I mean dangerous for you also, the human brain is tricky. It can easily label you under "glare, annoying but not relevant" when someone sees you in traffic. And this happens on a level deeper than conscious thought, I'm talking about "pre-sorting" before the brain even "lets you know". That's why riding with brights on all the time is also silly, it's annoying and nobody has yet proven it helps you more than it hinders. It's just one of those typical motorcycling urban myths, and people using "common sense". Except the world is not always as straightforward as a+a=b.
Seeing a blinding glare coming down the road from a mile away does make you visible, sort of, but it can mask any number of things. Like turn signals. Or an entire parade of other bikes behind you. And so on.
