3800 Lumen H4 LED Headlight

I think being antisocial and blinding on the road even if you don't actively kill somebody is kind of an issue in general, personally... not least because tons of glare from your lights will make people look away from you, not at you.

Factory installed Xenon setups are all certified, and are supposed to work properly (ie be non-blinding). Aftermarket Xenon kits are all 100% illegal and do blind people and shoot glare everywhere. You can retrofit a projector style xenon that isn't horrible, but that's more work than most people want to do... its saving grace is that it's not actually horrible, but it's still entirely illegal as it is not certified.

Just wentvith the Cyclops 3800 LED.....smokes the xenon and they ARE A STEAL at 59 s piece shipped from Rocky Mountain ATV....buy them and etiquette be ****ed I want to be CONSPICUOUS day and night.

Cheers...G

Yeah, there's a point where conspicuous becomes dangerously blinding. And I mean dangerous for you also, the human brain is tricky. It can easily label you under "glare, annoying but not relevant" when someone sees you in traffic. And this happens on a level deeper than conscious thought, I'm talking about "pre-sorting" before the brain even "lets you know". That's why riding with brights on all the time is also silly, it's annoying and nobody has yet proven it helps you more than it hinders. It's just one of those typical motorcycling urban myths, and people using "common sense". Except the world is not always as straightforward as a+a=b. :) Seeing a blinding glare coming down the road from a mile away does make you visible, sort of, but it can mask any number of things. Like turn signals. Or an entire parade of other bikes behind you. And so on.

 o_O :cautious: :notworthy:

They should be here today. I want to clear up some confusion.

Cyclops 3800 leds draw 20 watts each. That is on low. That is 40 watts total
They also draw 40 watts each on high. That is 80 watts total.

These ones draw 30 watts each on low. I don't believe that a 10w difference per bulb is going to be as astounding as some of you may believe.

were you able to put the ballast in the headlamp, or did you have to tuck it between the frame rails? Also, did you hook up the tiny bulb at the bottom, or leave it out?

Thanks!

Yeah, it's called a society because we have duties as well as privileges. Your privilege of running an illegal light potentially conflicts with your duty to do so safely while using the privilege of riding on the public roads.

Or is it only if others use illegal lights that blind you that it's bad? :p

Old Croft still full of the BS

I have been using these lights for about 7 months now and although they are MUCH brighter than anything I've had before, nobody has ever flashed me because of them. I am very happy with them.
