40 years ago one of these was my first bike, left hand kick start and foot brake right hand gears, 1968 Ducati 250 single had it doing 90 mph on the Yass to Canberra rd on a stretch call the "Mad Mile" just before ACT NSW border, Oh to be young again

There's a Mad Mile between Kyogle and Casino.

January 1985 traded the GS1100G on GSX1135EFE. Before I filled out to my 72kg fighting weight. Hey T.C. note the boots in all 3 photo's.

I had a Deltex Rockhopper as well .. been 12 or 13 years old , all us kids had one. We used to ride them around like they were registered and we had licences ..hahahaha. Remember the cops came after us one time when we were all riding out to the dam for a swim .. we took off (as fast as you can being propelled by a motor mower engine) cops were probably in 1st or 2nd gear in their Falcon .. we all thought we were giving them a run for their money .. hahaha .. talk about young and foolish.

40-45 years ago I had such things as Suzuki Mach III 500 cc 3 cylinder 2 cycle, Honda 350SL bought new, BSA 441 Victor special, Yamaha 360 Enduro. Never did like the BSA right side gear shift. No pics though.

40 years ago I purchased my dream bike. First of only 2 new bikes I have bought. Rocket being new # 2. Although there have been about 30 bikes in between. Several more before # 1 and several more after # 2. 1974 750 Four. $2245 tax, tags, title and accessories. Its orange - matched my hair.

39 years ago, I purchased my first street bike! It was a 1975 Honda 750 Four! Mine was blue! Wish I had a pic to post! And the bike back!

Great thread this one, hard to see a group of 60yr olds sitting around 40yrs from now posting pics of zxr 300's and POS Chinese imports. Its not fair to compare era's but I reckon there is a lot of character missing from the current crop of 'first' bikes compared to the iron you fellas started on.

40 years ago I could not afford a motorized two wheeler but twenty years later I used to carry my wide glide on the plane I flew wherever i was sent to work (tight clearance on the front cargo door) and 20 years later I ended up with this green monster
