For parking lot speed and turns, DO NOT hit the front brake with any force. I use the back brake when real slow. The torque of the Rocket helps to make it stable while slow and the low center of gravity helps, but once it tips, we are all screwed it seems. My first ride was at the dealer who parked my bike behind a speed bump and at an angle. The bike took it is stride without a hitch, one of the selling points to me.Yea big guy those were some days ago, that was the year that AMF took over Harley and they opened up the NJ Parkway to motorcycles and that bike was only 4speed, a big difference from the R3. I must tell you I am yet a bit intimidated with the weight and slow handling what can you tell me about the ride I want so badly to be able to cruise comfortably but it seems so unforgivable is that in my head or can this bike lean. "Be Safe"
I ride my R3T each year at the Memorial Day party my friends throw. We play all the traditional bike games like a slow speed race on uneven grass. I have only been beat (by coincidence) by a Sportster. In this exercise, one must go as slow as possible without putting a foot down or crossing the boundary lines. The lines are 10 feet apart. Lots of clutch and back brake work with slight throttle inputs wins these events.
The other game I do well in is the wiener races. In these, the bike is two-up with the back seater standing on the pegs/floor boards and trying to grab a wiener dangling from above with her mouth only. That extra wiggle while being slow on the uneven grass is a great way to learn bike control.
