Had 7k on mine when spedometer broke. Replaced but was not reset so started from 0 again. Now have 3,700 so total close to 11k. Pianoman, your Rocket's birthday is the same as my birthday. We should ride that day. I'll buy yours a tank of gas, and you can fill my tank with beer.:bch:

Thank you all for the hearty welcome

Hi,

Love the humor - it is appreciated.

I do have an advantage on living in SoCal. I commute from Yucca Valley to Van Nuys, weather permitting.

Since my warranty is expired, I'm thinking about just oil, filter & tire changes every 10,000 miles. Then all the other lube changes every 50K. Gotta keep the running costs down.

I'm fed up of paying up to $1,500, per service, to keep it "By The Book". Now's the time to just let it run and run - I doubt I'll ever destory the machine.

Have to say it's the best-handling bike I've ever owned. Starts first time. Still on the original clutch, new brake pads every 20,000 miles.

Not sure I could ever part with that much power and acceleration - do you all still laugh out loud when you haul ass past a high-performance sports car??? :)

Thx,

David

Have to Split Lanes

Hi,

I go through Los Angeles so have no option but to split lanes.

I do find it odd to produce a great bike but lumber it with 36" wide handlebars

Hate the sports bikes to have an edge.

Have you had much trouble with your Rocket?

Have you had much trouble with your Rocket?

I imagine that the only trouble Pig9r has had with his Rocket was induced by his tinkering with the computer. In the olden days, tinkering meant a screwdriver and some box wrenches. Nowdays, tinkering means a laptop and a true RMS digital voltmeter.

I know, it's the good old 'generational gap' again.:)

Hey, let's also go for the "lowest milage" on a Rocket. I took mine out on the 21st of February, looked at the odometer of my '05 Rocket & it said 3504 mi.

Beat that for fewest miles on an '05 folks! Doesn't sound as though it's worth owning it, does it? I'm gonna make up for it this year. A trip to Memphis, TN (1200 round trip), the run to Sturgis with Raymond & Co. (about 1600 to 1800 by the time we return I would guess), and a short trip to Des Moines, IA (back to the dealership for an open house event). Maybe I can catch up with you dacio, in the year 2025.

See ya.

Rusty:

I'm all for a lowest mileage poll. Lets see, I took delivery of the R3 end of June, last year and I have a whopping 1800 miles on the clock. Of course it's an '06. Lets see, my T100/sidecar outfit is an '03 and it has 2400 miles on it. That's 600 miles a year on the average. My greatest concern is stale gas in either bike..

Rusty, I imagine that after going to Sturgis with Raymond & Company, upon your return, you'll be like a fine champaign that the cork was left out of..........:D

The Good 'Ol Days

Hi Sidecar,

You reminded me of an old mechanic friend, "Brill" because he was simply 'brilliant' with Triumphs.

He was out every morning with his set of Feelers adjusting the points so he could start his bike and get to work!

I'm totally clueless about mechanical things; my saviour is Electronic Ignition

dacio- no problems with mine, however I have only rode about 6000 miles in the last year. What's that about one month for you? With that much riding what do you do for fun? Ride around in a car?:D

I have traveled to LA a couple of times in the last few years and I too would probably ride as much as possible, it would be the only way to get around in a reasonable amount of time. The traffic was nothing like I had ever seen before. That was also the first time I ever saw (legal) lane splitting.

I bought mine the 27th of dec. 2006. I was to bussajack's today and I have 635 miles on it since the weather is trying to warm up. All I have done is added wind screen, sissy bar/luggage rack and changed the oil and filter. hope to travel to baxter's in Iowa, Sturgis Steamboat and visit grand children in Las Vegas and Fort Riley this summer. Sounds like 3 to 4K this summer.

Erik

Erik,,Got mine aug, 04 and you will probably pass my mileage up this summer cause I only do a quarter mile at a time. Good to see ya here..
