1st gear selection problem

On the topic of getting into 1st from neutral, I never have a problem. As soon as you pull the clutch in pop it into 1st right away while things are still spinning. Never a need to double clutch. Not only does this solve that problem, but it will keep it from popping out of 1st when you take off...a common well discussed problem and one I figure out in my first week of riding.

Clutch free play is also important and I find there is a fine line to get it just right. A quarter turn can make all the difference in controlling the drag and being able to easily finesse the beast into neutral.

@Bedifferent - I understand what you are saying, but on my bike it makes no difference. My toe is on the lever ready to instantly press down as I pull in the clutch lever.
I can live with double clutching.
I really have no choice!
