Hello all,

I'm currently building a 70 beetle with an 06 rocket 3 motor. Still working on the drive line setup, sub-frame, ect(all miata suspension), but trying to lay out a plan and budget for turbo charging. The goal is to be around 250hp. I know once I get over 210, I'll need to go to larger injectors, better fuel pump, and so on.
My big question is, is TuneECU up for the task by itself, or are people using both TuneECU and a P.C.? I have a full stand alone system for a car, but that would mean adapting wiring harnesses, and to save time, I'd like to use as much as the original harness/parts as possible and just extend brake switches, lighting, dash, fuel pump, ect. I've seen where some people suggest TuneECU for base N.A. tune and then once dialing in boosted tune, use P.C. and am just curious what others are using for mid-range boost setups. I figure I should have TuneECU no matter what for basic diagnostics

I'm going to use a td04-13t starting out. Other than redoing the timing chain and a stronger clutch setup, do you all have any other start off recomindations? Should I go ahead and replace any gears on the 06 m.y. to a stronger version? This car will be drivin very hard:)

The PC makes developing a map approximately a million times faster & easier than TuneECU.

There's a list of stuff you could/should do to an 06 especially while in there too - are you doing pistons?
That's what's kinda been driving me crazy about tuneecu(plus subscription). I was looking at tuneboy too. Ive used p.c. in the past mainly on ducati's and hondas, never used tuneboy or tuneecu before. Im not planning on pistons. If i push for 300 ill do pistons. Im more trying to get a running project, if the motor blows, then ill worry about pistons in next motor. I could spend a centery building it, or I can get it done and have fun and learn the weak points. I cant tell you how many rd400s ive blown up on the track from extreme porting. Last rd400 i had before sold was 54hp and 300lbs. It was awesome:)
