I see some posts about their windscreens for older R3s, but haven't seen any about newer model. Does anybody have any experience with these? This is the one I'm going to order, and wanted advice on height of the windshield and if they're good quality. I'm 6 ft and I have a stock R3GT, so I was considering the 24" or the 22" one. I like the medium or dark gray tint, but wanted advice on visibility in rainy or night conditions through that. Anybody got any opinions? Thanks in advance. I love the forum and love the advice given.

I've probably had more Madstad screens for different than many people have had motorcycles. This might be the first time I've passed on their windscreens in a long time. It is a personal thing, but aesthetically, I think they really missed in on the R3. It was really hard for me to pass on it. Some of my bikes have been the ones they prototyped their screens on (and I beta tested) when I lived in Florida.

Their adjustable mount works pretty well and gives you a lot of options to dial it in. Their quality has alwas been excellent in my experience. I just wish they had made the lower part of the screen a bit wide and then tapered to the top width, so a little less rectangular. Below is the view that sort of killed it for me.

What are you looking for in coverage? More like a Gold Wing or just a bit less airflow over your torso? There are so many variables in plan. Sometimes less is more if you get smoother airflow.

I bought the following one from a forum member and waiting for the parts to mount it on my R. It came from Poland and I like the design of it.

Unlike the GT, my R didn't have any sort of windscreen and at 75+ mph, the wind blast was tiring. I ended up getting the black screen of Aliexpress and it made a noticeable difference, very obvious from 80 up. I was looking for a little bit more and put on the smoked wind deflector and spent a half our last night riding around playing with the adjustment. I finally got it pretty well dialed in. Most of the blast is off my body, and my helmet is pretty much in smooth, clean air with no buffeting.

In full transparency, I am not sure how well the smoked deflector is going to hold up. I may need to find a sturdier one but it was one I had on hand to try the concept. The dark black screen I've tested all the way to the speed limiter and it was rock solid. Last night I only ran up to about 120 and if I were to go that fast again, I'd probably fold it down flush against the black screen. Very easy to do, and I can do it while riding. It is easy to put back now that I know where I need it. It didn't let go on my ride, I could just see the screen starting to flex.

Next when my mounting parts come in for the Polish one I'll mount it and see how it goes.

I put the flyscreen built for the GT on my TFC and it looks good and provides a bit of function but is not like a fairing. I’m not one to want a large screen on my Rocket. I’m sorry but style and esthetics are a big deal for me. I use a full face helmet to fight the wind on my Rockets.

That Mustad does not look to bad but is a bit big for my bike.

I am 5'8" long upper torso and got the Madstad 22" tinted for my GT. I can't speak for riding in the dark but I am thinking it's not tall enough for a concern. The wind buffeting is gone and it does an excellent job directing airflow. I would buy it again if need be.

My main goal is wind. I would've gotten a gold wing if I wanted the cruise ship with a big fairing. I don't mind the larger screen. I would like no more than necessary to keep me from getting the **** beat out of me above 80.

I to like the wider at the bottom. I'll give one a shot.

I am also considering the 22 inch for my 22 GT. I will probably get it over the weekend. Heard good reviews from some who have it already.

Looking at a Madstad for the GT to have something to duck behind on the Bonneville Salt Flats this August.

Do you guys that have these believe it can hold up and stay in place at 160+ MPH ?

Well, I wound up buying one. And I can add my experience to this thread. The shield sucked for me. They made it taper down narrow at the front to be the same width as the little fairing/cover bit there. It lets a lot of wind in to hit your body and go up under your chin and in your face. I bought a piece of polycarbonate from home Depot and filled in where I thought the air was coming from, and it made it a lot better. I have a shield coming from Cal Sci now that should be about the same shape as what I wound up with , with my add on piece. Also tall enough to hopefully not need the spoiler on top. I'm taller than most, so I struggle with wind protection, but I think anybody would be unhappy with the win d the polish shield lets in at the bottom. I'm also going to make lower wind deflectors that mount on the forks to see if that helps. This add on piece was only an experiment and not meant to look pretty or be permanent.
