Just got the Tbird back. Here's the deal that I was offered. My dealer can get me a new 2012 Rocket Touring but it will cost 1400 more than the new 2011 I had bought and returned. Or he can get me a used 2012 with 4000 miles for the same price as the 2011 was. The used one has 4000 miles on it and is black/white. I think I might like the black/white. As a reference, the 2011 that I bought was my 2011 Tbird plus 5500 out the door.
So any suggestions?

A Family member told me in my younger days that Opportunity Knocks every Day and it's up to the receiver to reconize the Opportunity on offer..

Over the years I have declined or Missed some Opportunities and to this Day I still have some regrets.. I missed out or paid more $$$.

If you Rode and Like the R3 you will buy one eventually..
Warranty! and Test ride are important though, don't get screwed again :(

Hope this Helps :D

Triumph USA told me that the 2012s with ABS were shipped to Canada. No 2012 bikes were shipped to the US. But dealers in the US could make arrangements with Canadian dealers to ship the bikes down to the states. Not saying that's true or not, but that's what Triumph USA told me over the phone yesterday. I spoke with a dealer in VA today who said they sold their last two 2012s (with ABS) about three months ago.

Triumph USA is lieing to to you! Like I said in my other post, Doug Douglas Triumph in San Bernardino, CA had an 012 R3T on their show room floor earlier in the year and it was NOT a dealer trade from Canada.

The reason I know it was not a dealer trade is I asked Danny Douglas the owners son if the bike was a special ordered unit for a customer. He said no, it was an "In stock" unit.

I then looked at the bike and found all of the 011 "Special edition" chrome accessories were missing. Including the passing lamps. I then looked at the front and rear wheels and found they both had sensor rings. I then looked under the bike where the CAT box is located and found the servo unit. The bike was black and had the mid height windshield.

Lid color

I just found some great pics of the black and white. Looks awesome!

Yes much better than the all Black unit. I had my lugage bag lids repainted the white to match. The bike really pops with the lids painted. Here is a picture of the lids.

Personally I would take the t bird back and tell the dealer to go to hell
They cant be trusted from what you have said and if it's been this much deceit that they have given you i would walk away and find a new dealer that being said I know they are few and far between minnesota has two there both good but one is in it for the money and the other is in it for repeat business
Again I would find a dealer that at least knows the facts about there product
Be nice get your bike back and go some place else get the warranty and if anything goes wrong with the new bike you can always take it to this dealer for service if it's close but they sound like they are clueless to me and I would run
But this is just my opinion

So here's an update. I just got back from my first trip to Sturgess. Went with some good friends and did lots of riding on a rented Road King. For the first time ever my wife actually enjoyed riding. The scenery was great and the bike was very smooth for her (it had the new 103 motor). She said if I had a bigger smoother bike she would ride more often and go on some longer rides. But as much as we enjoyed the Road King, it still runs far too hot. Riding it where I live would be torture in the summer. That's why I sold my Streetglide when I first moved south. And even with the additional cost that my dealer quoted me for the 2012 Rocket Touring with ABS, it's still a far better deal than the Harley. I took my wife to a Victory dealer to see if that would be an option. But she hates the way they look and since she's actually on board for a bigger bike, I want to keep her happy. And they're not cheap either. Then I tried finding a 2012 but every dealer that says they have one on the internet ends up not actually having one. So I called my dealer to ask if they could still get the one that they said they could. They said yes and we worked out a reasonable price for the longhaul seat, two backrests, luggage rack, and auxiliary lights. Non of those items come on the 2012. I think that the dealer didn't realize how stripped down the 2012s were because they never actually had one in their dealership. Once they realized that, they had to raise the price over their original quote. It really is beyond me why Triumph keeps stripping the newer Rocket Touring bikes and has taken ABS off (here in the states). The dealer said they should have the bike within a week or two so I can once again be a true "Rocket riding" member of this forum.

Let me get this straight. You say the Road King 103 you rented was hotter to ride than the R3. And that is why you sold your Street Glide because it was too hot to ride? Have you ever rode an R3? I can tell you right now, living in the HOT So Ca desert area, my 07 Street Glide that I sold and my wife's 05 Road King that she rides, were and are WAY cooler than my 011 R3T to ride in traffic!

The heat the R3 radiator puts off is like an oven in front of you on hot days! Great in the winter. That was the first thing I noticed about the bike when I rode it home 130 miles from the dealer in Los Angeles. Unless you live in a cold/cool area, I don't think anyone would say the R3 is a cooler bike, engine heat wise, to ride than the Harley. Cool bike to ride, but a hot sucker in the heat!
