Windshield Options

xguidojr

the buffetting associated with the triumph screen is usualy an updraft coming from below the windscreen.

when you get a chance to do it safely on a stretech of straight road, stick your hand out palm down to the side of your tank and move it arounds some you'll see what I mean.

the lower wind deflectors eliminate a lot of this buffeting, but also block a lot of air.

sport or fly screen is better at no buffeting,

or do what I did and toss it all together and go with a fairing from a a sport bike designed to go at high speed

you can do a search on fairing, and my username with the search feature. up top.
you can also do a search on windshield and buffeting and see its been "beat to death" in the past.
also windshield has been discussed a whole heck of a lot as well as pros and cons of variuos brands of windshields and various ways to solve buffeting

Who makes those shape hugging crash bars on the bike with the tall screen?
Those are the Rivco's...way stronger than originals (the un-reinforced originals) The other bike has the stock Triumph ones.

They make a big difference to the looks, like they should have been done at the factory.
It also repositions the highway pegs. I havent tried my set yet but they look too far apart on the stock bars to be comfortable.

Just put on the Clearview GT25 w/recurve. Seems to have taken care of about 90% of the vibration. Found out that part of the problem was my old GMaxx Helmet. Switched to s skid lid and noticed an improvement. Thanks for all the suggestions.

..a question for xguidojr and TheBobs..how tall are you guys?..I'm getting ready to pull the trigger for a clearview screen for long trips..at 5'10", I was thinking the 23" with recurve would be tall enough..I want to be able to look over the shield..TIA..

Heat issues

I just want to bring up the heat factor if you live in the lower states that get into the 90+ in the summer... it really cooks while sitting still at a light and even riding.. and the lowers make it worse..
I use the classic screen only in the winter when its cooler.. and the Fly screen in the summer.

Also removing the Cat and installing the bypass pipe really helps a lot.

(Im in Florida)

markn2147d has one of these shields (the VTNB, I believe) and I was quite impressed with it.

We will be meeting soon and swapping bikes so that I can judge its performance for myself and Mark can assess a darksided R3.

I have the Triumph tall screen which I took off upon delivery of my Mulberry Mistress due to negative comments I had read, plus the mounting system is a real joke. Currently, I am running with the flyscreen, but it really is inadequate at high speeds or on the superslab when there are crosswinds. I would not want to do any extensive touring with it.
