I hear this ALL the time.
Not so much the "Is that a HD?" question.

I've had the "I think you'll find it's a six" correction after I've said it's a triple.

I just tell them I cut a V6 Commodore motor in half and bored it out ,gives them something to tell their mates.

When I hear that, I walk to the other side of the bike and exclaim that someone stole half my motor. I always get a kick of them not believing its a 3, and walking to the other side to confirm it.
