Who wants to be first.

So you would advise not to do it???? I was hoping itd be a good mod but now I'm not sure
For night riding excellent,
BUT if you rely on Headlight to be noticed in daylight this is not the way to go IMHO,
you need to use another form of lighting for that.

So if I buy the Sylvania Ultra Star H4 AND the Eastern Beaver light mod relay kit, are you saying that would be the way to go? Or would the Beaver kit be overkill. Would the kit still increase light intensity?

the relay kit makes the bulbs get powered directly off the battery... should make any light brighter... the other thing is that if you put a hotter bulb in without the relay it can cook the starter switch... supposedly the newer bikes have a relay instead of routing all the current through the starter switch, but i never got around to looking at my bike to see if it was there... just another thing to do once i manage to actually get retired...

Is this an issue with many other bikes? I rode Valkyries for 14 years and all 3 had starter switch or starter relay troubles. On the Valks when you pushed the starter button, it killed the headlight until you released the button. Even with that the little wires in the starter switch would still fry. My Rocket is a 2014 so I will ask the mechanic if this light has a relay. He has 17 years working on Trumpets. Tuesday, it goes in for the 500 checkup.

i have never had a problem with a stock start switch and a stock headlight... but i have always rewired when i went to bigger bulbs... i have never had the switch apart, but it seems that it must run the headlight through the other side of the starter switch so that it goes off when the starter switch connects... i gather that's why they cook when people put in bigger bulbs (and sometimes just cook anyways)...

I am perplexed at hearing several individual opinions of LED lighting being poor in daylight and good at night.
I would think the luminous intensity of a headlight is constant regardless of the time of day.
Anyone have a science based explanation how this would be true?

pretty sure it's going to come down to the color temperature... 'warm' incandescent is visible in daylight coming off the bulb and 'cool' led spectrum blends in...

See a lot of newer cars with led running day lights on the road these days and you can see them just fine... Has to be the right light spectrum since the are annoying to the eyes... MB, BMW and Audi got it right the cheaper new cars are not that noticeable...
