Who wants to be first.

I am perplexed at hearing several individual opinions of LED lighting being poor in daylight and good at night.
I would think the luminous intensity of a headlight is constant regardless of the time of day.
Anyone have a science based explanation how this would be true?
I'm not sure what was responsible - I think it may well be related to the reflector shape inside the bucket. But I know this - I'm not just speculating - I saw the difference with my own eyes - and it was a MARKED difference.

Just installed DayMaker LEDs ($327.00 ea.) and it"s night and day difference. Installed one at a time just to see difference and it was amazing! I'm not concerned about daytime visibility because I also have the Kuryakin running lights plus PIAA spots with the higher rated bulbs installed. Also, I installed an on/off switch for the headlights (along with EB kit) so I can run with just the spots for daytime visibility if desired. This also keeps me legal as you can only run with 4 illuminated clear lights here in VA.

Hey Sparty, good to see you posting again. I'd be very interested in seeing what you've done. On Sunday, April 4th, the new dealer in Manassas is having an Open House. Another rider that lives out near Chancellorsville has invited me to ride up with him. If you're interested, the more the merrier. We'll leave somewhere around noon or so.

I put the Kuyakin kit on my Ultra (similar to the light setup you guys are running on the touring) and it works great. 7" main and spots on either side. MUCH better than stock IMHO...daylight or dark. They even sell a bypass that allows the spots to stay on with the main. ~ $400 for the whole deal as I remember

Like you, I have recently installed the new Daymakers on my Roadster ($318 ea. from Kutter HD).
Appears to be a large difference as I haven't ridden much in the dark yet.
I am told they are bright during the daylight by others riding in front of me; however, I always use high beam during the daylight hours.
Haven't decided if I yet need some spots to help out when looking for deer at night.

Hey Tdragger
Sunday is the 6th. I'm assuming the open house is Sunday, not Friday the 4th. Very interested in tagging along. It's been waaaay tooo long since I've ridden (2nd round of cancer struck in last October). Rarin' to go now! Keep me apprised of your plans and itinerary.
