Which Progressive Shock

I am new on this site. I have the 2011 R3R which is fitted with Wilburs Nightline rear shocks and front springs. All up, I paid just over $1700 for the package. To put it bluntly, they are no better than the standard shocks. I still get wacked in the spine going over bumps. I have tried all different settings without success, in fact, I could not tell any difference with the settings I tried. I am now considering the Ikon shocks which I have heard they do actually make a big difference. Please correct me if I am wrong or if I am wasting my money again.
 

G'day Rokme , Welcome . Surprised to hear that fitting Wilbers hasn't improved the ride of your Rocket. I know that when i rode Ponters bike with the Wilbers piggyback shocks i thought they were a pretty hard ride. He was having them resprung last i heard. I've had to have the Gazi's on mine resprung and revalved to get them softened up. That has improved them. Who has been dialing the Wilbers in for you mate , shop or are you doing it yourself ??
 

ASR Suspension in Victoria preset the shocks to my weight etc. I had a Triumph dealer install the front fork springs but I have been dialling Wilburs in myself. I was of the opinion the piggybacks are supposed to soften the ride.
 
Maybe have a chat with Ponters before outlaying anymore cash mate. Think he's got onto someone who's really cluey with them . Piggybacks are supposed to be topshelf , you're right. I'll send him a text and let him know his services are required ... maybe PM him your phone number so he can get onto you.

Absolutely right...lifetime warranty with no questions asked to the original owner with your sales receipt. Make sure you save the receipt.

Whatever you go with, don't "cheap out". You really do get what you pay for in most cases. I have 440s on both my Valkyrie (since 2000 with no problems) and Rocket with Progressive front fork springs. To me the ride is vastly improved over stock but I do occasionally see dissatisfied 440 and fork spring owners. These are the minority from what I've read.

I appreciate that the bike really seems to float over expansion joints without jarring and the front of the bike doesn't nose dive when braking hard.

From what i understand your roads in the States are like runways compared to the goatracks that pass as minor roads over in Australia. Concerns about the Progressives on Aussie roads is that they just get hammered too much. They just can't handle the rough road conditions , so i've been told anyway.

I cannot believe major roads being as bad as ours here in the NW. I-90 has places so rough it will break your grip off the bars. Not frequently; but, about once every ten miles or so which actually makes it worse, to me anyway. Once you realize the need to regrip the bars, your ass is slammed by the rear wheel.

Another issue here is likely the cracker-ass Aussie versus the more manly, full figured 'Merican ass. Looking at your avatar, TC, unless you be over 2 meters tall, I likely have you by 22 kilos.

On last note - "someone who's really cluey" This be some strine or what? I like it!

Our roads are pretty f#cked .. most of them are rooted .. no matter which state or territory you go to , the B roads suck !!......... 2 metres tall , that's like seven f#ckin foot tall no idea what a f#ckin "cracker-ass" is but i'm not one and what the hells a " some strine " .. who teached you 'mericans to read and right ???
 
Greg from ASR will definitely sought you out. Issue is Wilbers preset to your weight etc but account for smooth autobahn etc. My Wilbers front end is sublime but I went the full cartridge option. The rears are brilliant shocks but remember you are talking an elite racing shock. If you speak to Greg he'll definitely soften it by popping in a lighter spring.

Greg from ASR is in Arthurs seat Victoria and is a top bloke.

Buy products from local specialists rather than net. Might cost a few extra bucks but at least you can ring the bloke and get back up. He's had softer springs waiting for me for nearly a year! I've been to busy to sought it out but will do before my next major ride.

He won't rest tuning your gear until you're stoked with outcome.
