Wheel bearings

To check if your steering head is to tight jack it up with the bikes standing up straight and the front wheel about 100ml off the ground. Hold the front end in the middle and let it go it should just fall away gently to either side under its own weight. It might need a little tap with your hand to start it moving from centre but then if it doesn't fall away to the stop there too tight

Thanks for the info Bruce . I went for a bit of a ride and I think it was just because I got used to riding with it loose it seems better through corners now no rattle it just felt weird at first at car park speed because it's not so loose now. Feels better after putting a few ks down I have more feeling in the front now rather than just the loose rattle

If you've been riding with a loose head stock for awhile the chances are you could have damaged the bearing cup.
Most bikes use a tapered roller bearing. If run loose for long periods then they can leave chatter marks in the outer shell.
That'll give you a notchy feeling when riding slowly.

Seems nice and smooth just felt strange because my front end doesn't fall off going round corners anymore lol

Really (really) hard to fathom why he wouldn't be looking at a new T'Bird and keeping the old one. Cost would be about the same and he'd have an infinitley better ride(s). It's a no brainer, surely!
No- brainer .... selling a really sweet T'Bird and then spending another $20,000 to buy a bike that's probably not as good as the one he's selling ... what do you mean a no-brainer ?.. Oh i get it .. no brain
