Whats wrong with idiots ?

I'm still amazed by the amount of people who have access to a licence, driving is more than going in one direction.

. . . and drivers are all TESTED prior to licensing!
A heck of a lot better than the qualifications needed to VOTE!!!

I don't know about over there but here your licence test is 1 handbrake start (although not many manual cars around these days) 2 attempts at reverse parking and abit of driving around checking your mirrors (which alot of people disregard once they have their golden ticket to drive.

I see you've called an ambulance before?
No, I wouldent actually do it, but I can imagine how easy it would be. When I was young and didnt know any better (no knowledge of how lawyers worked) I had the green arrow on a left turn at a busy intersection...nightime...I advanced as expected and when I was mostly through the intersection was rammed full on by a tractor trailer running a red light hauling a load of propane. luckily I was in a 1972 chevy nova...lots of steel in those older cars...he pushed me across the intersection where my nova, pinned to his grill, came up short of a set of gas pumps by about 3 feet. The driver of the tractor trailer was cited for drunk driving and driving a tractor trailer with a revoked CDL.

I survived, oddly, because I wasnt wearing my seat belt. I had all the ribs broken on the drivers side and quite a bit of bruising to my lungs and body-when he struck me I distinctly remember bouncing from drivers side, to the passenger door, and bouncing back to my position behind the wheel. I was concerned about fire and "blowing up" (hollywood, I know) and got out of the vehicle and as I waved my arms for help I distinctly remember cars slowly going around me looking annoyed at me for causing them to be delayed. Now the part about the lawyers-I didnt know that they work very, very, slowly unless you give them money, so nothing happened for a very long time and when it did my lawyer got many moneys and I got little moneys. Had I been a more educated man I would have done things differently. This was in the 70's and i found out later the driver was back on the road within the year. A little different today I suspect with the web. Doug, older, wiser, and flinches a bit at Cussokens avatar.

License ? What license ? Who needs a license ?

Since 9/11 when one of the hijackers was found to have a "we give them to anyone" DL from Virginia, and Virginia tightened the ID requirements, all the undocumented folks who make the economy work around here still have to get there, and have only the vaguest notion some about driving. The stories are manifold and I've seen a couple myself of vehicular contact -- no license, no insurance, no fault -- everyone go about their way.

That's one reason why making eye contact with the other driver is no guarantee they won't pull out and hit you.

Ouch! That's a GOOD reason to call an ambulance. Unfortunately a lot of people think that they are reinforcing their "claim" when they take a ride. So we roll up to crashes without any real injuries and invariably a guy wants to be transported for his boo-boo so he can sue.
trouble is, then he's evaluated by a real doctor who says he's got a boo-boo and lets him go and now he's got no claim for injuries, just what the hospital charges. If he had gone home, talked to a lawyer, and gotten seen by a quack who will diagnose him with terminal boo-boo-itis, he would then have a lot of "pain and suffering" to sue for...
awful system. but you see some real actors sometimes
