What octane is best for Aussie Roadster

Don't think .. in fact I'm sure Richard wasn't saying it's ok to run ethanol blended fuel .. I wouldn't run it in either of my bikes that's for sure.

Must be nice...for the most part we don't have a choice over here. All readily available fuel in the US has ethanol in it for the most part. You can find ethanol free fuel if you look hard, but when you are on a long trip it would be difficult to plot out your route based on avaiability of ethanol free fuel. Having said that I haven't seen a lot of difference in the way mine runs based on which octane fuel I put in it.

Just in case someone hasn't already mentioned it, the fuel ratings in the US and parts of Canada is different from most of the rest of the world. The US uses the (R+M)/2 method (aka AKI aka PON) whereas the rest of the world uses RON.

RON octane numbers are approximately 4-5 points higher than the equivalent (R+M)/2 numbers. Regular grade may be 87 in the US but would be 91 elsewhere and so on.

Personally, I run Regular (87 US) and have for some time. Premium (92, 93 US) is simply a waste, IMHO. Just because the H-D crowd requires Premium doesn't mean that Rockets should.

Howdy Tex, from Aussie Land ;yes it is good to have a choice of fuel over here but! I filled my R3T today and it cost A$39.20 and it was not quiet empty as we are paying up to A$ 1.85 cents per litre for 98 fuel and close to A$1.00 a litre for LPG,I run an 1979 Ford F100 with a big block 460 on LPG with a 220 litre tank as I couldn't afford to run it on petrol I just cannot go to a Asian buzz box ute for economy ,and the Effie suits my Hats LOL

Gotta love those Ford trucks...I've driven them all my life. I drive a '14 F-350 Dually when I'm not on a bike with a 6.7 L turbo diesel 4x4. Fuel mileage is not something I readily discuss and I shudder every time I fill the tank. On the other hand, it will pull a house off the foundation :D:D. My current project truck is a 1963 Chevy C-10 that we are building for a shop truck

my 01 ford 250 2wheel drive 7.3 diesel has 286k miles trouble free <15mpg now ,new 2500 crew cab long bed 4 wheel drive dodge diesel gets 18 to 19 mpg right off the lot. sure wish the 7.3 were still here

My '05 Ram Daytona with the 5.7 Hemi averages in the low 13's (MPG) around town, but will get in the 18's if I fill up and get right on the interstate or parkway.

The good thing about that is when gas prices got so high here a couple years back; I bought my '08 T100 Bonnie, which was traded in a few months ago for my R3R.

I was in shock when I read 8mpg but then I remembered the US gallon is 3.784 litres our Imperial gallon is 4.546 litres about 33% larger, my 1979 460 powered F100 Custom long wheel base gulps lpg at 33 litres per 100klm or 8 miles per imperial gallon, slightly better 12mpg on petrol ouch! but she sure rattles some windows and eats Nissan Navara's for breakfast and goes looking for a Toyota High Lux for dessert lol
just like the rockets ,no replacement for displacement,
