What gives???

I don't know why you are all saying that fuel gauges are not accurate. Mine is. The only thing to be aware of is that the float is pushed to the top for the first gallon or so, and sitting on the bottom for the last gallon. Not much you can do about that. The little light comes on usually between 150 and 180 miles, the fuel gauge is sitting on the red warning lines, and it will take 4.5 gallons to fill it. It has done this consistently for over 100,000 miles.

Congrats IDK!!!! I believe you have the only rocket fuel gauge that works!!!!! My light comes on so I filler up and it take between 1.9 to 2.1 gallons to fill!

I just got a bike with Triumph fuel gauge. It went from half to near red pretty quickly. I wasn't sure the light would come on with the gauge installed so I gassed up. It will come on, right?

Perhaps if it is not the actual gauge sticking (meaning internal gauge problems not float sender problems) you might want to look into upgraded parts. It seems the level sensor which has the float on it and the bracket get updated. This is in the update kit. It does not mean you cannot make the original work as I do not think this was in the early update kits and mine still functions properly. Of course you must hold you face straight to get the bugger out of the tank but it can be done.
