It is possible to fit the non return valve in upside down when you are refitting the bottom sump plate. I do not know if it would stop the oil flow to the pump though.
If the oil pump checks out then put the pump back on and figure out a way of spinning the pump shaft. For example making something to use in drill a u shape to go over the shaft and a drill (i am told ccw)
One thought is to cut a 1/4 extension and then modify a scocket to turn pump.. another is use a piece of heater hose from shaft to scocket.
I seen that on a transmission it sucked silacone through the screen and really messed it up.
Question did u tear open filter? How much silacone in filter. Any in oil tank?

Pull the sump also and check what's in the screens. Looks like you have found part of the cause for no oil pressure. The next question is why so much sealer was in the pump pickup? What was the previous owner trying to do? I wonder how much got into the main oil gallery?
