Wanted: someone who installed the Rivco risers on the R3T

People will probably find they don't need new cables , UNTIL they give way , after rivco risers , i put 20,000 klm on and then in the middle of no where my clutch cable gave way , there was just a tad too much strain , so a new cable and no more problems , think it was about 80-90 dollars delivered , , better than a tow truck

I also find that one has to be extra careful about adding length to the throttle cables. A little bit is beneficial, but we're talking half an inch over stock. Going too long means they start bulging out. I had to route mine through the left opening by the headlight rather than the right since they bulged too much otherwise. It's finicky business this, has to be precisely right to fit perfectly, there's no give at all since the cables have to be routed in a smooth curve.

Hi guys.
Rather than starting a new thread, I thought I'd look in here.

Seems like there are some drawbacks to the Rivco Risers: possibly new cables, and if one uses the old cables, early fatigue of the clutch cable. Also, it sounds like the "Triumph" chrome hood will not work on these risers. Love that chrome piece BTW.
Does this summarize these risers?
Are there other risers for the R3T?
Maybe just an inch back?
What about new handlebars?
Has anyone tried bars that pull back just an inch or so?

I have adjusted my bars a bit and that helps my reach a lot, so it's not crucial I install the Rivco Risers.
Thanks for any opinions.

I put the classic bars on with the Rivco risers, rerouted cables, no problems.

Doesn't matter which way you move the controls further back, still have to reroute the clutch cable at a minimum, I'd say. There's not a lot of give in the stock one. The throttle cables are routed differently and aren't as affected. The risers are great, my bike went from "not quite right" to "spot on".

One more question:
Can the gas tank swing up with the Rico Risers installed?

Thanks,

One more question:
Can the gas tank swing up with the Rico Risers installed?

Thanks,

Yep, it's not a problem to raise the tank with the risers on. I even mounted a 12-volt chrome outlet between the risers without thinking about it and only then realized I might have issues, but even then I can finesse it past (juuust barely).

The classic bars at the handle area are more square to your hands. The Touring bars bend back towards you at the ends, so your hands are at an angle gripping them, I like my hands more square to the bars. The Touring is a longer bike, that's why the bend back, the Classic bars are too far away without the risers.
