Viking exhaust is hot

Got my full Viking system delivered and mounted. Cranked it up and WOW did that sound sweet.
Within minutes standing 2 feet away I could feel the heat coming off the header. This was pretty concerning grabbed my thermal temperature gun and took a few readings. 750 up to 800 f. finished the curing cycle and went for a short drive. With-in a few miles my leg was on fire. Got home to see my inner calf was red. I fully expected more heat than stock, it's a header with no heat shield but this was terrible not ridible. I went back through the previous threads I had read concerning this subject. Then researched other motorcycle makes and header temps to get an idea of what is to be expected. While 750 is not common it is with-in reason. Normally hot headers equal too lean of a tune.
I contacted Paul and other members with Viking systems for help. I really wanted to keep my forward controls that bring my leg across the header and the Viking system.
Paul worked with me in the background to make this system work for me. GREAT SUPPORT from Paul and other members of this site. Ended up with a tune from "Sleeves" through Paul. While still warm on my leg do to forward controls very ridible. I'm working on customizing some heat shields made from old shields from other bikes. With Roadster pegs the heat wouldn't be a real concern. So far everything is coming together nicely. I feel like I'm sitting in my recliner at home with a whole lot of kick**s at my disposal.

Wow forward controls your legs got to be close to the header. Be careful. Look what happened to Paul's @Paul Bryant hair

You think Paul's exhaust is hot try the larger Carpenter pipes would not even consider forward controls with an after market no heat shield system but if you get it to work good on you.

Maybe tune the bike properly and see what happens. Canned tunes are like putting a bandaid on a cut that needs stitches. Better than nothing.

Nearest good tuner to south center Minn. ?
I know I am after a lot with this set-up. But why not try. The classic seat on the roadster makes me feel like I'm in the bike instead on top of it.

The title was made as a attrition grabber. I tried to point out that the tune I had didn't match the system. With the tune I have now dropped temp 100 f + If running a header hot is expected but very tolerable with the right tuning. I'm pretty happy with the way its coming together. First ride sucked prior getting help.
Due to previous threads I read I wanted to solve this in the background with Paul's help. Great system and support from Viking Exhaust.
I'm only cooked rare instead of well done. Today's ride was pretty comfortable.

You can have your bike tuned by the best in the world but the fact is your pipes will be very very very hot, the stock pipes get just as hot but they have excellent heat shields

Just poking fun at the idea of forward controls with my pipes, wouldn’t be viable regardless of tune, not that I mind. Glad you ended up with the bike working closer to your idea of optimal!!
