My laptop crashed last fall and I purchased a new one w/Windows 7 operating system. I have recently tried to load the T/B and the PC III disc on the the new laptop with no luck.
Has anybody else loaded these disc using Windows 7 ?? If anybody has maybe they could give me a hint as to what I am doing wrong.
You have to use 'compatibility' mode. Try using the 'open with' option and you should find an XP or earlier version of windows to use to run the program. I had the same problem until I did that. I still haven't hooked it to the bike (no real need right now) to ensure it runs the tune edit OK. Give it a shot and see what you get.
Thanks neighbor, I will try that and see if I can get it to load on the puter. I need to hook up to the bike and upload the current tune and to make some adjustments to the speedo. I don't think I got it set right to make the speedo read properly.
Maybe after I get healed up from this latest neck surgery, we can meet up in Cassody compare notes some sunday.

Actually we have met. Your bike was on the M & M Choppers dyno at the time posting BIG numbers. I'll gladly meet up with you at Cassoday. Heck bring your copy of my book (Lessons in Lunacy) and I'll sign it for you.
PS. I'm confirming the release date of June 4 with the publisher.
"You can right-click on the setup .exe and select Properties, if you have the proper version of Win7, you will see a "Compatibility" tab. Under this tab, you will see a check box "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and a drop down list with many of the various flavors of Windows over the reasl, back to Windows 95 and NT 4.0.
Pick XP (Service Pack 3).
While you're there, check the box under "Privilege level" to Run as administrator.
You will also want to do this once the install has completed for the main TuneBoy and TuneEdit application executables."
I just loaded the PCIII software recently under Win 7 (32 bit) and got the same error. I don't need to run it in compatibility mode but when installing make sure you first right click on the setup program (don't run it automatically from inserting the CD, browse out to it under "my computer") and select "run as administrator". I would also HIGHLY recommend going to the website and downloading the latest version instead of using the CD.
TuneECU runs without compatibility mode as well. Can't say for certain, but out of habit I most likely installed using the "run as administrator" option.
Okay, after repeated tries and even contacting Microsoft support, I had no luck loading the operating C/D's on to my new laptop. I finally went out to the Tunboy web site and the Power Commander web sites and down loaded the operating programs and I think I am up and running. I have yet to try to connect to the bike yet but it looks good to me.
Thanks guys for your help, I really appreciate it.
