Recently saw some posts on valve shim sizing issues and thought of this program that one of the moderators developed on BonnevilleAmerica.com. I've used this many times to help figure what size of shim I needed. I've tried to upload the application but it won't let me so I've included the site it's in. This site is for early Bonneville America and Speedmasters.
Open up the Valve Shim Calculator (6th from top) for a tool that will do the math for you when calculating your shim size needs. It is assuming your intake shim clearance at .175 mm and exhaust at .275 mm. You can change to your preference. I used to set mine to the minimum because the valve clearance usually got greater with those engines.
