Triumph Service Bulletin , switch bypass

Although the service tech said that the bypass was only to disable the lights while cranking, the following seems to say otherwise:

Service Bulletin 421:
" We have identified that the ignition switch may malfunction on the above model due to the electrical current passing through it while the headlamps are on. To reduce the current passing through the switch, dealers are requested to add a headlamp relay and fly lead assembly"

No schematics, so I will investigate more, but it may be a fix. The lights DO go off during cranking, and the lights seem a bit brighter, but so far just a daytime comparison.

Looks like Triumph is calling it a Roadster problem only, although I'm guessing most here would disagree.

I guess I'll have to go back and look at mine - I would have sworn it was a 2006 R3 Classic; maybe the Tooth Fairy visited and switched it when I wasn't looking. :twisted:
