Touring seat vs touring seat with backrest....

G'day,

I have just bought a new-to-me R3 2005, it has the gel touring seat (without the backrest hole) and the seller also has one with the backrest hole in it.

They look identical apart from the riders backrest hole.

This is what's on it:

This is like what he has (with rider's backrest):

He is asking AUD$500 extra and he will swap the seats and supply the fabled unicorn of parts- the riders backrest.

Is it worth it? are these seats any different other than the backrest hole? I am concerned that the seat has less padding at a very important position, the tailbone.

All guidance appreciated.

The rider backrest is really worth it, especially on a long trip. Snatch his hand off for that backrest - from what I could tell, the seats feel the same. I've just sold my touring seat and backrest (after buying a GT), and have put the stock separate seats back on. I find it's better for short journeys and 1" higher !

Especially on these bikes. ha ha, I'm missing mine while the seats out getting done. No backrest on my pile of bath towels.

Ridden both with and without the backrest fitted to the seat with hole and bung. trust me the seat with bunghole is best seat for 2005-2009 models. Yje backrest fitted just takes it to another level with it 6 way adjust back and forth as well as easy slide and allen key bolt heidgt adjust. Well worth the $au500 for both seat and backrest. Thegel Tourer seat is one of worst! Overheats in Aussie sun and cooks your nether regions. No support and horrible. I habve bought and sold over a dozen Rocket III seatss custom and all.

The Touring long haul seat is the most comfortable motorcycle seat I've ever sat on, bar none. On cross country trips I often fueled up without getting off the bike.
