Thunderbird Accessories


Well, you have a point. Those Razorbacks are bad assed. What the hell is this noise you keep talking about? I don't hear anything out of the ordinary for a vertical twin. They do have a distinct sound, especially the T-Bird, due to the 270 degree firing. My Triple (Tiger) makes a whistling noise, but I think it's cool. I don't hear any "whine" type noise in my T-Bird. Maybe, I'm just not understanding the noise you're referring to.
 
I don't know HF's direct experience level with the bird but on video because of the nature of video camera mics and online compression algorithms treble sounds are amplified and bass is decreased. There is a bit of a whine on the bird but when you are on the bike you don't hear much of it, put after market exhaust on it and you hear next to none of it. Point a camera at the side of the engine and upload it to the web and you hear a lot of it.

As for the Foran pipes... ugh. They look like a limp dog's d*@k and are painfully pricey. I much prefer my BC's to them.
 
I got a price quote from them last night: $1500. There's no way in hell I'm paying that kind of money for a slip-on setup. Hell, I could put true dual full exhaust on for that.

My 2-cents worth: The TOR cans sound good to me without sounding offensive to others. The chrome plating is absolutely gorgeous. And there's a factory tune readily compatible with them. Jamie
 
Just to pass along. The comment about the TOR tune being available made me think.... There are some folks that were concerned that the cat bypass BC pipes would, with the absence of a specific tune would cause the bike to run lean. Well having just come from the shop where my engine was torn down to fit the Big Bore kit the mechanic said my plugs were 'beautiful' that the bike was running great. I've go no leanness issues and that all the internals looked exactly as they should.

I am running the TOR tune BUT, I have been running the TOR tune since August. I didn't get the BC pipes till November. The TOR tune with stock configuration was a nice improvement over the overly lean stock tune. I didn't make a tune change when I installed the BC pipes. Of course I will now have the big bore w/ TOR tune installed. I should pick up the bike tomorrow.
 
A "must-have"?

Talking about OEM accessories, the optional chrome-plated belt sprocket looks truly magnificent. Local cost here is the equivalent of US$ 500- some which is bloody expensive, isn't it?. Yet, after two months of "forward remorse", I ended up buying it earlier this week and installing it as a rear-end beautifier, the original part looking...er... utilitarian at best.

(BTW said sprocket seems to be on back-order, at least in Western Europe)

I agree with you that the original is rather plain looking. Thankfully, it's mostly covered by the long pipe.
