The Old Guy knows his Triumphs

I get waved at, people roll down their windows all the time to give me positive comments. An older gentleman approached me at a bike show on the weekend, 75yrs. old, told me all about his old Bonnie's, LOVED the monster compared to the Harley's and Honda's I was parked beside, I told him he could buy a 2014 Bonnie, and his face just lit up, he was just so in love with the Triumph logo...guess it brought back a lot of good memories for him, I was equally entertained listening to his stories as well.

I met a guy a few weeks ago who was wearing a Triumph T-shirt while I was in a parking lot at a shopping center. (He was around 70-ish)
We had a long conversation about bikes, and airplanes. He used to own a couple of Bonnies and we both have our pilots license and love to fly. He went on to tell stories of teaching his son how to ride motorcycles, and racing dirt bikes when he was younger.

The Rocket 3 sure seems to start up many good conversations!

I guess I'm the un-lucky one here in this city for this kind of stuff.. When I had my Yellow M109R I used to get crazy attention, people would be looking, waving, pulling up beside me to chat about the bike.. It got to the point where I stopped paying attention to people because everyone was checking it out all the time.. but since I got my Rocket, no one has commented on the bike at all.... I guess because it just looks like all the other "Cruisers" out there. I know it doesnt. But most non-motorcycle people can't tell the difference. I had a friend I havent seen since September come over on his bike to go for a ride this weekend and he didn't even give my bike a second look.

The only people who have commented on my bike were the 2 english guys that I work with who were happy to see a Triumph, and one guy on the road on the way home sitting at a red light that opened his car door to spit out a mouthful of water right next to me, look up with a wet mouth and go "Hey thats a cool bike, do you like it?" and after I just nodded he goes "Cool" closes his door and drives off.

Maybe its because I've got a sissy bar on the back. No bike looks cool with a sissy bar on the back.

I don't follow hockey so I have no idea what that really means o_O don't they finish playing hockey at the end of winter?

Neither one of our teams were good enough to play into spring this year.

Ah! I am not really understanding why people keep cheering for a team that supposedly hasn't won that big ass trophy for like 30 years, but still keep cheering and hoping.. But then again what do I know I don't follow any sports so what I think doesn't matter haha

I took some $hit from guys I work with who ride Harleys... 'why would you waste money on a Triumph?' etc etc... I went out riding with them, smoked all of them and their $30k bikes, outrode them in curves, got better gas mileage. At the end of the day, not one of them had something bad to say about the R3T. As payback, I took some PIG (oil-absorbing) mats and cut them into Harley logos, and then placed them under each of their bikes in the parking lot. Told them it was 'just in case'. haha

So I rode into NYC earlier and pulled up to the Triumph Dealership on Plaza Of The Americas blvd. They are closed. I look up and there is this great big crowd of people at the rent-a-bike station looking directly at me. I blip the throttle a couple of times to open the hypercharger baffles on the fairing and they all turn to each other and then point at me. I turned the corner and drove away laughing my butt off. You should have seen their faces!

Is it just me or is this a tad ironic given the way you seem to keep dribbling over your yellow Suzuki....
